The Felsenrain residential complex in Zurich Seebach comprises three buildings with apartments for the elderly, care homes and family housing, as well as communal and public facilities. The project has set itself ambitious goals in the area of the circular economy.

The covered balconys are being constructed using reused steel and concrete elements from the floor slabs of the existing building. Some of the windows from the existing building will be reused in the new development. The plan is to install two reused windows in combination with new fixed glazing in the loggias of Building C, ensuring that thermal and acoustic insulation requirements are met overall. The façades and some of the surrounding elements will also be constructed using reused materials.

Zirkular has been supporting the project since the preliminary design phase with a potential analysis. Building on this, the feasibility of selected building components was examined in an in-depth detailed study in collaboration with the project team. During the execution phase, dismantling, logistics and installation concepts are being developed and components are being sourced from external suppliers. Some of the existing components will be allocated to other projects.
